Farm Tour: Fairwinds Manufacturing

Located in Vancouver, WA, Fairwinds Manufacturing is an i502 cannabis producer

and processor determined to make the most consistent and beneficial cannabis infused health and wellness products on the market. Their products can be seen across the state, and of course they are a staple here at 2020 Solutions. With Fairwinds being a producer and processor, everything is done in house. They grow their own cannabis, extract their own oil, and infuse their own edibles, topicals, and cartridges. Their team consists of scientists, doctors, engineers, and cannabis connoisseurs who are committed to providing products that are consistent and truly work. Back in February, some of the 2020 Solutions Bellingham team got to go visit their facility and see what it was all about.

The Grow

The primary founder of Fairwinds started as a mechanical and electrical engineer for the US Navy, and as a result his company is on the cutting edge of cannabis technology. Fairwinds grows their cannabis in a state of the art facility complete with patented customizable environmental controls. “Each room’s humidity, temperature, light levels, CO2 ppm, and other environmental factors are precisely monitored and regulated using an advanced digital control system.” All of their plants start as cuttings in a pest and disease free clean-room environment. Unlike most growers in the state, they only grow a handful of strains, including their signature “Omrita RX”, which typically tests out over 20% CBD and less than 1% THC. At the time of writing, Fairwinds doesn’t actually sell any of their beautiful flower on its own, so all of it goes into processing.

Fairwinds products are also all Department of Health compliant, meaning they meet all the requirements set forth by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, including additional testing for pesticides and harsh metals. This is the equivalent to growing "medical grade" cannabis.

The Process

All of Fairwinds products start with a full spectrum extracted cannabis oil, similar to Rick Simpson Oil. Their process maintains terpenes and plant matter, which in combination with THC, CBD, and other cannibinoids creates the "Entourage Effect."

What sets Fairwinds apart from the rest of the industry is their use of other natural ingredients in combination with cannabis. Cannabis may be the key ingredient in all of Fairwind’s products, but without the use of cannabis derived terpenes, essential oils, and all natural herbs, their products would not have the same effect. Some of their products, such as the CBD Ratio tincture and vape series, are predominantly cannabis, where as their Digestify Tincture uses cannabis along with essential oils and herbs to enhance the effects of already proven ancient herbal remedies. Fairwinds truly does an amazing job of producing a diverse product line, and they are arguably one of the most consistent companies in Washington State.

Let’s review some of their products below:

Fairwinds has a wide line of Tinctures, including the CBD Ratio, Relief, Essential, Lifestyle, and Specialty series. All of their tinctures are made with food-rich avocado oil, high quality cannabis oil and cannabis derived terpenes. The Ratio Series comes in varying CBD to THC ratios, and is a great option for anyone looking primarily for the benefits of cannabis.

The Relief and Essential series add essential oils into the mix, using cannabis to enhance the effects of ancient herbal remedies that have already been proving to work.

Finally, the bacon flavored Companion tincture, which has a 5:1 ratio of CBD to THC, and is meant for that special four legged member of the family who is always there for you.

Fairwinds oil cartridges are made with a high quality full spectrum cannabis extract. The oil is not a distillate, so it retains a lot of the terpenes found in the plant. They also add additional terpenes that are distilled from cannabis “to further enhance the effect, performance & flavor”.

Much like their tincture counterpart, the CBD Ratio Vape series comes in an assortment of CBD to THC ratios ranging from 20:1 to 1:1.

They also have the Deep Sleep and Release vapes on the market. These cartridges are similar to the Essential Tincture series because they are lower in cannabinoids, but utilize essential oils and natural herbs to achieve some amazing results.

Fairwinds has some phenomanal topical products on the market: The Flow Gel, the Flow Cream, and the “O” Intimate Lubricant.

The Flow Gel is a high CBD topical that is designed to penetrate the skin quickly and take effect within 5 minutes. It won the Dope Cup back in 2017 for best topical. The Flow Cream is a more complex formula with full plant extraction, essential oils, terpenes, and other natural properties. It is more fragrant than the Flow Gel and is not as fast-acting, but offers a deeper and longer lasting relief.

The O Intimate Lubricant is a safe cannabis infused lubricant that is bound to enhance your night.

Other Products

They have too many products to write about, but in addition to their tinctures, cartridges, and topicals, Fairwinds also makes cannabis infused capsules, suppositories, coffee (infused K-Cup), among others.

Capsules are a great way to go because you can add herbal ingredients that are NOT in an essential oil form, unlike their tinctures and cartridges. Because of this, Fairwinds is able to add more "unstable" ingredients that don't necesarily have to be mixed together. Fairwinds suggests trying the capsule form of their products if the tincture form was not enough, i.e The Deep Sleep.

You can also buy syringes of Washington’s first Fully Extracted Cannabis Oil (FECO). FECO is an advanced extraction method that captures essential cannabinoids, terpenes, and organic compounds that are normally missing from a typical RSO. If you are looking for clean and pure cannabis, it doesn't get better than that!
