How Much Cannabis is Too Much? Determining Your Limit

All patients and casual users must use cannabis responsibly because it has properties that can affect focus and awareness. If you're having a tough time determining how to manage your cannabis usage, the following strategies can be helpful.

THC vs CBD

Tetrahydrocannabinol is the compound found in most cannabis products. This component has chemical properties that produce a euphoric effect. Because THC has psychoactive elements that are produced by cannabinoids, cannabis with high amounts of this compound should be used wisely. When cannabinoids are consumed, they interact with various receptors that are found in the mind, and the different reactions produce effects that may vary from user to user. Although there are hundreds of cannabinoids, THC is the most popular option because of its unique psychoactive attributes.

CBD stands for cannabidiol, and it's an alternative option for users who wish to use cannabis to help manage certain medical conditions. Unlike THC which primarily psychoactive, CBD is recognized as a healing compound with properties that can help reduce inflammation and anxiety. In fact, the big benefit associated with CBD use is that it manages these symptoms without psychoactive effect. In combination with THC, CBD helps counteract the anxiety that is sometimes caused by THC.

How to Determine Your Limit

The limit for each individual user will vary based on the intensity of the psychoactive effects. If you're a new user, experiment by using different strains of cannabis with varying amounts of THC. The best low THC varieties include Harlequin, Sour Tsunami, Pennywise, Harle-Tsu, ACDC, and Dancehall. During the early phases, you'll experience unique, often stronger effects because your mind will have to adjust to the chemical effects. Then, after you have adjusted to the effects, you'll begin to experience other psychoactive elements. Your usage limits must be tweaked throughout each phase of the adjustment process in order to prevent health problems. The most common medical issues caused by excessive cannabis usage is an increased heart rate and intense paranoia.

Safety Concerns

When you know and stick to your limits, you don’t have to worry about serious medical complications that can occur when cannabis isn't used properly. However, in order to set practical limits, you must be able to recognize when something is wrong.

When your heart beats quicker than it should, the cannabis is causing the problem. The best way to measure your usage according to your heart rate is by using a tool that detects heart beats. As you consume a cannabis product, use the heart rate device and monitor your heart beats. When your heart begins to beat rapidly, you've reached your limit, and someone should clock the time.

These strategies can help you use cannabis in a responsible manner. If your goal is to treat a medical condition, consult with your doctor to set a practical limit.
