Bellingham Budfest- The What, Who, When and Where

The sun is finally poking its head through the PNW clouds and summer is right around the corner. What better way to kick start the season than attending the first ever Bellingham Budfest. This will be Whatcom County’s first festival that celebrates the growing success of the cannabis industry and our budtenders from 2020 are looking forward to seeing you there. 2020 Solutions is honored to participate in this inaugural event. You won’t want to miss it! Let’s break down the details:

What is Bellingham Budfest?

“A celebration of cannabis culture and industry in Whatcom County”- Bellingham Budfest Vision Statement

The cannabis industry in Washington has been booming and Whatcom is flourishing. This festival is to not only celebrate the growing empire of cannabis businesses but to also bring more education to the public. No tickets are needed for entry since this is a free event! The festival will be hosting guest speakers to help educate those who may not have all the facts about cannabis or maybe are unaware of the benefits of CBD, etc. One of the main goals of the festival as a whole is to bring proper knowledge of cannabis to light to help end the stigma that still lingers around till this day. This event is all-ages and has a separate section for those 21 and up (that’s where you’ll find our booth!).

Whatcom County has an expansive and diverse community of artists, cannabis connoisseurs, and independent businesses. Expect to see local artists and artisan shops in the art bazaar, with over 50 vendors in various different businesses to meet and greet, plus great food and music! It’s only a bonus that Bellingham Budfest has partnered with Sustainable Connections, a local non-profit organization, to be a Toward Zero Waste festival. Make sure to bring your canteens and refillable water bottles since they will have water refill stations as well!

Who can I expect to be there?

There will be a large amount of entertainment and

things to see. Get excited as this event will be emceed by Netflix’s Cooking on High star Ngaio Bealum, a cooking demonstration with Vice’s Bong appetit contestant Unika Noiel, and a glass blowing competition for local glass artists to enter. These features are only a taste of what’s in store. There will also be seven local bands and over six food vendors to choose from. Expect to see vegan and vegetarian food options as well.

There will also be a “silent disco” throughout the day, hosted by local company Secret Sounds. For those unaware, this is when the audience is given wireless headphones to listen to their choice of DJ. Listeners have the advantage to listen to whatever they want, and at whatever volume they choose, but everyone dances together. Budfest will have two DJ's playing at a time that you can cycle through at your leisure, and over 8 DJs playing throughout the day, with a variety of music. There is even a plan to have a silent disco yoga session in between dancing. 2020 Solutions' very own Alex and Haakon (HEIRZ) will be playing from 6pm-8pm on the electronic station, don't miss out!

For those who are interested in learning more of the legalities or law and have questions concerning the police, there will also be a Q & A booth for all of your cannabis questions. Keep in mind, this is a festival to celebrate the growth of the industry as a whole. You will NOT see any smoking/dabbing booths at this event.

When and where is this festival happening?

The Bellingham Budfest will be happening on Sunday, July 14th from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Zuanich Point Park. Education panels will be hosted in the Squalicum Boathouse from 2 pm - 5 pm and the opening ceremonies are TBA.

Between the music, education, entertainment, and food you will be plenty busy at Budfest. Make sure you come by and say hello to your favorite budtenders at the 2020 Solutions booth! We look forward to seeing you all there!
