What is the Endocannabinoid System?

Inflammation and oxidative stress play crucial roles in the complications and development of diabetes. Research has shown that the endocannabinoid system may influence the production of reactive oxygen, tissue injury and inflammation. It's believed that plant-derived cannabinoids such as cannabidiol or CBD that target the endocannabinoid system can provide therapeutic benefits.

About the Endocannabinoid System

The human body has its own system for processing cannabinoids called the endocannabinoid system. It was discovered in 1988 and is responsible for regulating a variety of physiological processes that are vital in maintaining proper health. The endocannabinoid system is found throughout the nervous system and the brain. When it's functioning correctly, it balances sleep, digestion, mood, appetite, immune function, motor control, temperature regulation, memory, fertility, and reproduction. When the endocannabinoid system is disrupted, disorders and disease can develop.

Why is the Endocannabinoid System Important?

Recent studies have shown evidence that the endocannabinoid system isn't exclusive to the brain. It's also present in the liver, skin, heart, pancreas, and reproductive tract. It plays a vital role in response to stress and the secretion of hormones related to the reproductive system. The endocannabinoid system controls energy homeostasis and influences the function of the gastrointestinal tract. It also regulates turnover in the liver, lipids synthesis, adipose tissue, and glucose metabolism in muscle cells. This process prevents type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Methods Using the Endocannabinoid System

CBD hemp oil is an excellent way to supplement a healthy way of life. Cannabinoids can evoke their balancing effects when interacting with the endocannabinoid system. When you encounter a threat, stress chemicals such as adrenaline and cortisol are released to keep you focused, alert, and ready to fight back. You'll likely breath faster and harder, experience muscle tension, and have high blood pressure. When this system becomes disrupted from stress, or we can't produce enough endocannabinoids, it can be helpful to supplement with CBD oil. After the threat has come and gone, your body must rebalance itself. The endocannabinoid system and CBD hemp oil go hand in hand. CBD (cannabidiol) assists the user against the effects of clinical endocannabinoid deficiency and brings your system back in balance.
