Budtender Relates To Seniors New To Cannabis

Meet Greg—one of the most welcoming, uplifting, passionate budtenders in the biz. If he was a cannabis strain, he’d be a sativa—say, Super Silver Haze. But this long-time flower lover prefers indicas. “It normalizes me,” he says. “My mind is naturally so active, the indicas help me stay focused and grounded.”

Greg has been smoking cannabis since 1967, when he attended the Summer of Love in San Francisco—watching bands like Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and The Grateful Dead. For him (and everyone else there) cannabis was an integral part of a massive social and personal revolution—and he became a life-long lover of the herb.

A few years ago, Greg retired from his job as an ad agency owner, but still wanted to do something meaningful where he could engage with the public. 2020 Solutions was a natural fit. And because he’s older than your average budtender, he’s a great access point for the boomer generation and seniors in general—advocating for the helpful role cannabis can play as we age.

“I’m a diminishing demographic,” he says. “But I would say, today, over twenty five percent of our customers are over fifty. They’ve read about what cannabis can do and they’re sick of their prescriptions.”

What’s Greg’s main message to newcomers over fifty? “I wouldn’t want to overwhelm them. I would suggest a mild edible—say ten milligrams of THC. Ease into it. Moderation is the key to life.”

“I might be a geezer chronologically,” he says, “but I still feel like I’m 25.” And it shows. Greg has a youthful energy and positive presence that he attributes to regular cannabis use.

His gregarious and outgoing disposition help make the 2020 family what it is—that welcoming positive place people love to come back to again and again. Greg has a great love of people, and he knows how to take care of his customers. “We’re not here to be cooler than anyone. We’re here to answer questions about cannabis,” he says. “I just want want people to feel comfortable when they come in.”
