If you’re having friends and family over for Super Bowl Sunday, you’ve got a lot to do. Since we’re here to talk about cannabis, I’ll assume you’ve already got the other stuff handled. Snacks? Check. Beverages? Check. Ice? Check. Take out the trash, give the dog a bath, grab the bottle coozies and air horns from the garage? Done. All that’s left is to do is head to 2020 Solutions for the real supplies!
Get the Party Started
Why not buck the norm and offer some bottled bubbly that gets you high? These strawberry-lemonade Cannabis Quenchers from VCC Brands have 30 mg THC and 30 mg CBD in each bottle. They give a nice solid body buzz with an energizing high that lasts 3–4 hours (about the length of a Super Bowl party).
Tip: You don’t necessarily need an entire bottle. Many people find their uplifting sweet spot at ½ or even ¼ of a bottle, so if you’re inexperienced with ingesting your cannabis, pace yourself and see how you feel after 45 minutes or so.
VCC sparkling beverages come in two THC strengths—30 mg and 100 mg, so make sure to ask your budtender which strength you’re getting and know your dose.
Other flavor options:
Another great drinkable option is Mirth Provisions Legal Sodas—available in multiple strengths, and varying indica/sativa, and THC/CBD ratios to dial in just what kind of energy level you want for the big game.
You can get them in these flavors:
Keep it Simple with Pre-Rolls
Pre-rolled joints are like the finger-food of the cannabis world. Simple, easy, and a perfect hit every time. Have a selection ready to go at a moment’s notice and your guests will love you for it. These here are from Cannabis King, one of our local Bellingham favorites.
Tip: Have plenty of ashtrays (or cups, tin cans, whatever) available. No one likes that uncomfortable feeling of wondering where to flick their ashes, or for that matter, where to put their joints out when done.
Tip: Have an assortment of strains available and keep them in labeled cups or containers, so people can know what they’re smoking and even compare and contrast as the party progresses. We have pre-rolls in nearly every strain imaginable, but they sell out fast, so come in and see what we have available.
If you really want to blow some minds, get some Caviar Gold Cavicones for your guests. Just warn your people—little tokes. These are THC-infused, and stronger than anything out there.
Strain? Go with a Sativa
Whether you decide to go with beverages, pre-rolls, baked goods, or concentrates, you’ll want to keep in mind strain selection. True, a good variety will be appreciated, but my personal recommendation is to focus on the sativa side.
Known for their energizing, sociable, uplifting effects, sativa strains (considered many people’s go-to ‘daytime’ weed) are a good bet for game day. You’re going to need that energy to jump up and scream at the tv when the ref makes a bad call, or shout “It’s good!” and do a victory dance when your team scores a touchdown.
Some good sativas:
Your other option—indicas—are known for their ‘couchlock’ effect, and tend to make people introspective and quiet. Not exactly conducive to competitive sports and fanfare, but to each their own. Perhaps some after-party indicas would be good. Something to remind us all it’s just a game, and when it’s all said and done it’s about having a good time.
Some good indicas:
There you have it. Some tips on how to make your Super Bowl Party a smokin’ good time. Our menu can change from day to day, so be sure to check in to see what’s available and talk to a budtender if you want recommendations.
One final tip: You want everyone to feel welcome. Have options for people who don’t use cannabis. Make sure you offer regular sodas and snacks that don’t get you high, and for the beer and wine lovers out there, make them happy too.
Cannabis doesn’t have to be an exclusive club. It can be one more ingredient to the party of life! Now GO HAWKS! Wait… aaargh!
