One Mile High: Episode 1

One mile: the perfect territory for a cannabis enthusiast. It’s walkable, large enough to wander aimlessly, yet small enough to make getting lost after dabbing some XJ-13 nothing to worry about.

There are so many great miles, one could make it their life’s mission to seek out the best of them. But for now, let’s focus on Washington State, Whatcom County, Bellingham, Whatcom Falls Park.

Location: 1401 Electric Ave. Bellingham, Wa 98229

Here’s what you have all within one square mile:

Whatcom Falls Park: Several miles of easy-to-walk trails and an ancient-looking stone bridge take you past 4 sets of cascading waterfalls, a swimming hole, fish hatchery, and ponds with ducks who don’t mind if you bring a loaf of bread to share.

The beach at Lake Whatcom: Swimming, sunbathing, barbecues, boats. It’s the epitome of summertime fun, and people flock here in good weather. But don’t let grey skies stop you—sometimes it’s nice to have the place to yourself.

LaFeen’s Donuts: It’s an old-school, real-deal, ultimate munchy donut shop located just across the street from the park’s Silver Beach Rd. entrance (off of Lakeway Dr.).

Whatcom Creek Trail: Whatcom Creek begins at the Falls, and runs through Bellingham out to Bellingham Bay. The trail follows the creek, offering plenty of nooks and crannies in which to fish, take a dip, or simply bask in the beauty.

You could easily spend all day in this mile. It’s a stunning place to enjoy a high, and what makes it such a gem is its proximity to downtown Bellingham. If you wanted to venture beyond your mile, you could walk the trail downtown in about an hour.

Suggested strains: Green Crack, XJ-13, Jack Herer, Blue Dream, Chernobyl
